Virtual Midwifery Practice

A portion of the MMBP will be offered through distance education courses such as Virtual Midwifery Practice. This is an online educational tool that provides you with the opportunity to experience working in the Canadian model of midwifery. You will care for virtual midwifery clients in a group practice with other MMBP participants, make professional case and practice management decisions, and manage a midwifery practice in a Canadian context.

A sample page from the American program is below. An MMBP version, based on the Canadian Midwifery Model of Practice, is being developed by Gregory Consulting.

Basic computer skills and access to a computer are required. If necessary, support for improving your computer skills is available through Mount Royal College.

Please see our Academic Program for course descriptions.

Loving Care Birth Center-Demo

Welcome to Loving Care Birth Center

Let's visit with Betty Buns.

Now if you were in the active program you may proceed to developing your care plan, order labs and get results on line and if needed request referrals and/or consultations.
You could then schedule Betty for her return visits and continue to care for her throughout her pregnancy.

Next let's sit in on a staff meeting.

Each week the individual practices meet to review clients, establish the call schedule for the following week and work on a community health problem

You may view the example case study at www2a.cdc.gov/epicasestudies/computerbased/ecoli.htm
